Race Season

With Summer essentially here and mountain bike season a few weeks away, Brian was having a little sit-down with Rad, discussing training techniques (if you have to bail, be sure to roll; don't push the downhill, you will just get hurt- everyone can go fast downhill; get as many miles in the saddle as possible; it's not about the bike, it's the athelete, etc, etc....) Here is the future Tour De France Champ with Daddie.

I Am Proud To Be An American...Gladiator

I have been thinking about this all day. Firstly, American Gladiators was on MTV all day today. I can't think of a better way to celebrate Memorial Day than to watch Wolf pummel all those wannabees. I mean, they all wear red, white and blue outfits. Maybe MTV was trying to be patriotic. Secondly, Hulk Hogan reminds me a tiny bit (okay a ton) of my older, more famous brother, Jay, excepting the baldness and mustache. If you know Jay, next time you are watching American Gladiators (because you know there definitely will be a next time), close your eyes and see if you hear Jay's voice coming from your TV set. If you have HD, you are the luckiest person alive.
Here is the question of the day, no, strike that-of the century.... If you were an American Gladiator, what would your name be?? I have been trying all day to come up with something awesome, but I fall short of TOTAL AWESOMENESS every time.

Any Takers????

Anybody out there that wants to run the Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon (I just typed "Marathong" then erased it. I think they call that a Freudian Slip)? It is on August 9, 2008, which happens to be a Saturday, for all those crazy mormons out there that don't do races on Sundays (good luck finding one;). I have heard that it has a pretty steep hill in the first mile but is then mostly downhill, whether that is good or bad, you will have to decide. You can find some more info on the race here http://www.gtishalf.org/EventInfo.html.
If you are interested, let me know. If you are interested and live somewhere other than Denver or CO you could come and stay at my house and Brian will provide the ride to the race and Rad will provide the entertainment. He doesn't do too much, but he has been farting like a little race horse. It is always funny when he rips 'em during a prayer or other such time that it is totally inappropriate to fart and therefore hilarious.

Bye for now!

Blister in the Sun

Today Rad, Daddie and I spent some time outside. I had the greatest intentions of buying an inflatible pool for little Rad, but instead I got him an inflatable rubber ducky pool (complete with quacking mechanism, which FREAKS Buddie out). It was pretty warm for Denver yesterday at 85 degrees (yes, we have become heat wimps since leaving the Valley of the Sun) and so we got Rad all dressed in his swimming suit, filled up the tub and went outside to splash. Which splashing he does as though is is getting paid by the hour. It is serious business, that splashing. He has the most stern look on his face as he flails his arms and legs, then gets a little pissed either when he hits himself in the face or splashes water in his eyes. Either way, it was pretty cute!

Hashimoto Twins

Julie and I both suffer from the disease of Hashimoto's and this is a picture celebrating our strength in combating said disease of the Thyroid. Maybe if you look close enough, you can see my goiter and her scar, Edgar. Both are tell-tale signs of our suffering.

Hello From Prescott, AZ @ the Whiskey Row

So, many of you know that I had been training for the Whiskey Row Half Marathon. When I found out I was going to have Rad a couple weeks early, I realized I would have just enough time to train for it.

Well, I am alive, that is all I can say. I started out really strong and then remembered that I hadn't even started the climb to hell. I swear, you come around this corner going straight uphill and think of course, it flattens out right after this hill. I am wrong every year. I have run this course 4 times now and have been psyched out 4 times.

Anyhow, I finished. At mile 9 I decided that I was never doing the WR ever again. That happens every year. As I crossed the finish line I told my fater-in-law Ralphie, that I was done running forever.

But- there was little Rad waiting for me at the finish line. I want him to know his mommie wasn't always a crazy old hag and that I used to be tough. Now I have pictures and a crappy little metal to prove it:) You can't really tell, but my bib # is 666. That is awesome!

Here are also some pics of Julie and myself kayaking a few hours after my race out at Watson lake. Soooooo fun!! If anybody wants to get rid of a kayak, please let me know!
