Here's the Deal

Brian and I are in kind of a pickle. It is not earth-shattering or even really that interesting. We can't decide whether to get a brand new 42" flatscreen TV or a treadmill. The problem is that we have REALLY good reasons for wanting, I mean NEEDING, both of them. We have gone over it and over it and can't decide. So, what would you do?
Here's the situation.... It snows here in WI. Alot. And it gets really cold. My rule is that I will not go running outside if it's under 15 degrees. If I keep my rules that means I will not be running very much. I could say I won't go if its below zero, but come on, 15 degrees is EXTREMELY cold. I've done it before. I could pay the $35 at a gym to use their treadmill but why would I do that when I could use that $$$ and buy my own treadmill?
Or get a TV. What is better than watching Elmo (Lala) lifesize? I wouldn't know b/c my TV is small.
So, folks, I put it in your hands. Let the voting begin!!

Another Sweet Boy

I was busy again during naptime. Unfortunately I was not busy napping. Oh well. At least I wasn't sitting on my fat bum watching TV. Oh no. I will be doing that tonight! Thursday night TV (pronounced TEE- vee) is the ballz.

Here is a pic of Rodney that I got today. I think it turned out pretty cool. I heart CS4!!!

This pic I took of the boys last night. I don't know what it is but matching outfits are incredibly adorable and irresistable. I am gonna do it till they refuse to wear matchies.

Rodney!

I finally finished my first scrapbook page of our dear little Rodney Jones. Let's just say I was extremely productive during the boys' nap today! Productive= sane mommie, or relatively sane. Whatever. I even cleaned up and cleared out my computer desk/work space last night, so I am feeling especially tidy and sane. It won't last long.

Just a few notes about Rodney. He is the sweetest little baby. He is six weeks old and has slept thru the night for the past few nights. The first time I held him I could feel his gentle spirit. He has proven to be very gentle and very calm. He fits in so perfectly with our family. I know that my grandpa and brian's grandpa must have hand-picked him for us!

Quilt Update

Rodney has slept throught the night for the past few nights which means that my naptime has turned into Mommie's Playtime. I have been working on my quilt today. So far these are the squares that I have finished. I still have to do two nine patch variations and one called something along the lines of a fence and something having to do with being outside of it. I call it a square within a square. Don't look too close at the patches. I failed on a few of them. Anyhowzit, I think it's coming together nicely.

Konrad is doing well. I swear the kid does something new every day. Or says something new every day. I don't think he's advanced or anything. In fact, most kids that are "advanced" are pretty normal, except for maybe Mozart. I know he's just a normal kid, but it is amazing what they pick up on and remember. For example, he is a shoe Nazi. He remembers where his shoes are at all times. You might be saying to yourself " um, they are on his feet...how hard is that to remember?" You might also be very wrong. His shoes are almost NEVER on his feet. Saturday I was sick of him taking them off and me putting them back on so I put them in my purse. We got out of the car an hour later and Brian asked where his shoes were. He says "Mama's". Oh yeah, I put them in my purse and he remembered.

Then there was the train incedent. He has a train and track that I had out back in July. He didn't really care about it so I put it up in his closet in a box. Well, last week we were at the park and a train went by. Later that afternoon he comes, grabs my hand and takes me into his room. He points up at the non descript box and says "choo choo". What? I didn't even remember that I had put that there. Oh, there's more. So, he is playing with his train and I have my sewing machine out. I guess he put the caboose in my machine case and I found it Monday night when I went to my class. The next morning he sees my machine sitting out and has a crap fit b/c his choo choo is in there and he can't get it open. He remembered from five days ago that he put his stupid train in there.

Anyways, he's a funny kid and may or may not have a little OCD/ADDHD.

Scripture Case

So I searched far and wide for a pattern for a scripture case. I don't know why I was obsessed with finding one, but anyhow, I was. I found one pattern from a girl named Tricia and she sent me her pattern. It looked way too complicated so I endeavored to make my own. Here is what I came up with in two hours on Wednesday afternoon.

If you google "cripture case pattern" you will be linked to Tricia's pattern (of whom I have not met...just blog-stalked). If anyone googled it and got my blog, email me and I will send you directions and the pattern. I think it turned out really cute. The only thing I would change is that I would make it a tiny bigger so that I could put my JS manual in it. But let's be honest...I have an entire diaper bag, a backpack full of church toys and other various things, am I really gonna be able to 1. carry all that stuff and my scriptures or 2. make it through RS long enough to open my JS manual. Probably not to both of those.

My New Project

Right before I had Rodney, my friend Kayla and I signed up for a Beginning Quilting Class at Bigsby's Sewing Center. I figured that I would need something fun to do and something to get me outta the house once per week.

The first class was last week and we picked out our fabric. What is more fun than having all sorts of fabrics to browse and chose from? Absolutely nothing. Here is the fabric that I chose.
Pretty sweet, right? It is actually much harder to pick out fabric than you would think, especially if you saw some of the other people on our class. I mean, you would think that we were having them draw molecules of dihydrogen sulfide or something like that. Oh well, it is a beginning class.

So, we are making a sampler quilt and tonight I finished three squares. I must admit... it was the easiest one we are going to make. Here are our finished squares:
Yes, that is me, 4 weeks post pregnancy. Yes, I am standing in front of a gigantic wall of buttons. Yes, I have bangs again. Yes, those are bags under my eyes.
Please check back next week for an update on the quilt. We will be making a square that has 9 squares in it. They have all kinds of fancy names for these squares but I like to call 'em what they are: 9 square and the one I did tonight: three strips, not side fence post or whatever it is called.
Good Night Moon,
Emily
