We finally made the bottom around 6:30pm. It was a long day of hiking which included hiking up to 14,000 feet and covering over 21 miles in under 11 hours. In the car on the way home we discussed what our next adventure would be. Any suggestions?

Here is the trian heading up the mountain, boy that would have been a lot easier.

Here is Emily getting closer to the bottom.

We decided to head all the way back down after going to the top, so we stopped at the camp, packed up and started walking. I think this was after about 15 miles that day, we still had 6 miles left.

Just a picture of us together and the awesome view of the mountains.

Finally we made it to the top. We got a little lunch and headed back down. It was just in time too, a big thunder and lightning storm hit just as we got below tree line.

Heading up to the top the next day we thought we were doing pretty good then we read this plaque and could not believe that an 88 year old was still hiking the peak.

We hoped our little tent would be enough protection against the bear that had come into camp the night before. Lucky for us the bear stayed away while we were there.

We finally made it to our base camp. We slept here at about 10,000 feet ready to hike to the top the next day.

I wish we were at the top!!!

Here is Emily loaded with about 35 lbs. of gear.

Just a couple of pictures along the trail.

Here is the nice little warning that we read at the start of the trail.

Here we go on another adventure. This time Emily and I decided on a whim to hike up Pikes Peak. Our first 14er (there are 50 some odd mountains in Colorado over 14,000 feet above sea level). Barr trail is about 13 miles long.
